It seems that next summer is going to be all about showing off your pins with plenty of designers sending the tiniest of shorts down the catwalk. While Chanel paired jersey hotpants with tights, Etro gave the trend an officewear spin, Saint Laurent and Brandon Maxwell betted on leather and Isabel Marant, Ferretti and Givenchy made a case for the denim cut-off comeback.
Every true fashionista knows that the real clothing magic takes place when you bring in the accessories. Strategically placed, a belt can help you change the contour of a dress or slouchy top; cinch it around the waist to achieve a perfect hourglass look or well above your waist to accentuate your bust and lengthen your legs. Try a brightly colored belt that contrasts with the hue of your other clothing, and then pick up that shade in a matching handbag or hat. VENUS also carries a line of unique fashion jewelry, including earrings, chokers and bracelets, which will help you finish off your look.
I totally disagree with previous comment. Women over 50 say they feel invisible - maybe that's because they dress to be invisible. I see a lot of women dressing dumpy which ages them more and I see a lot of women who try to be young by dressing too young. How you dress I forms people's first opinion - either confident, elegant, fun, full of life or dumpy, old, tired, desperate to be young, etc. There's nothing shaming in thinking about if your style makes you feel good!
I like your hub because it has the most important information on how to wear beautiful clothes when you are in your fifties. It is nice to wear attractive beautifully clothes. It feels good wearing the satin or any soft comfortable fabric. You are great for sharing what you know. Thank you for spending your time and writing about what to wear at the age of 50 years old.

A very stupid and narcissistic action. Meghan and Harry didn't request to be named Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They belong by birth and marriage to the Royal family and Sussex belongs to the Royal Kingdom of Britain. What they might want to do is to vote themselves out of Britain. Otherwise they should keep quite and accept that, if it is not that extremely beautiful couple, some other members of the Royal household will be named for Sussex without their being consulted first and there is nothing they can do about it. Their opinion is not invited. So short up.
Whether we like it or not there are situations and places that require a certain way of dressing. Although this site is directing the issue toward mature women, I often see younger women who dress shabbily, inappropriately, and too provocatively. Some people in the name of freedom of style proclaim that a person should be able to wear whatever they like, wherever they like. But this is not only an irresponsible attitude, but also wishful thinking.
To play it safe, combine a neutral, like flax, with something bolder, like yellow. But think twice about pairing intense hues with black, which "can look dated," says designer Chris Benz. For something punchier, try two colors that are beside each other on the color wheel, such as coral and orange. Not sure where to begin? "Notice what colors you love and respond to in your decor," says Benz.
Crochet is getting a cool update come spring. Think ultra-feminine dresses, polished suiting, and eveningwear that feels modern with a special touch of Grandma’s handmade crochet. As the fashion industry looks for ways to become more sustainable, there’s something special about a “trend” that embraces a slow, handmade technique that can be passed down generation after generation—à la that treasured family heirloom that lasts forever.
Feel sexy without revealing too much: No matter how old you are, a grown woman will always want to be able to feel sexy in her clothes when the occasion calls for it. Highlight your best feature—whether that's your chest, legs, arms or shoulders—and leave the rest a mystery. Showing too much skin as a mature woman will have the opposite effect you might intend, and make you appear out-of-touch and older than you are!
This whole thing makes me cringe. Wear what you want! Your old enough to know what You like. So what if I have crapey skin. It shows I've lived. I'm not going to cover up my age because it makes the young people uncomfortable. It's where we are all headed. Might as well get comfortable with it. Maybe we should learn to focus on the things that matter, like how we treat each other and stop shaming people about their appearance.

Not to be completely shameless, but we do have to brag about our bloggers at PRiME who are passionate about fashion over 50. What we won't deny is that finding inspiration when you're "of a certain age" can be difficult because fashion magazine spreads tend to ignore this demographic. However, celebrity dressing is a constant source of inspiring style for women of all ages, simply because our favorite stars are aging right along side us—like Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Helen Mirren and Viola Davis. (Can you believe she's 51?)
