VENUS understands that clothes are a form of self-branding. What you wear can influence how you feel, and how you feel can influence what you wear. When it comes to fashion, there’s only one rule: Never wear anything you don’t absolutely love. That’s why VENUS offers such an extensive array of affordable clothing choices in sizes up to 3X. No matter what your personal style aesthetic, you’ll find options that you’ll look forward to wearing. Whether you’re getting ready for a day in the office or a night on the town, Venus has you covered.
Seems counterintuitive for a woman to put so many restrictions on other women and claim they are being supportive and helpful. Wearing the “right” clothing is about us learning what looks good on our particular bodies (that’s for all ages) not putting into place some social restrictive standard that will continue to put women in a box! Why are we still so bent on telling women what to do? Are we so jealous of the hot 50 year olds in bikinis that we have to use peer pressure tactics in order to compensate for our own insecurities? Come on women! We should be celebrating each other! Can I add, what the heck is wrong with florals???
I'm almost 51, have great skin thanks to genetics, have been active all my life, have long dark hair (in great condition with minimal greys)...most people think I'm in my mid 30s. I still wear bikinis and short skirts and get compliments from both genders. I do think 50 and over should avoid florals, too much lace, and hair accessories with the exception of a barrette or hair band for a low ponytail.
Plus Size Women's Swimwear: Whether you're on the hunt for a one-piece, bikini or coverup, our newest swimwear collection has everything you need. Crochet is getting a cool update come spring. Think ultra-feminine dresses, polished suiting, and eveningwear that feels modern with a special touch of Grandma’s handmade crochet. As the fashion industry looks for ways to become more sustainable, there’s something special about a “trend” that embraces a slow, handmade technique that can be passed down generation after generation—à la that treasured family heirloom that lasts forever.

Her blog about fashion over 50 was created specifically to help other women avoid the mistakes she made. “I thought other people might learn something from this,” she says. “You lose your way fashion-wise taking care of kids and aging parents. I thought maybe I could save people some steps if I shared what I learned.” Street describes her 50+ style as modern and feminine with “a little rocker edge. It’s a little bit more sophisticated than I wore most of my life,” she says.

A lot of women over 50 and sometimes 40 too find shopping to be a daunting experience because nothing seems to fit, not in the size sense but holistically. Contrary to this popular notion, the fashion industry is highly volatile and is proliferating, with all big names changing strategy to make clothes targeting all age groups alike, reassuring us that age is, after all, just a number. So there hasn’t been a better time than now to explore everything there is for you. Just remember to wear your confidence up your sleeve, no matter what. If you have any more questions, drop it in right here in the comment section. Take care!

To play it safe, combine a neutral, like flax, with something bolder, like yellow. But think twice about pairing intense hues with black, which "can look dated," says designer Chris Benz. For something punchier, try two colors that are beside each other on the color wheel, such as coral and orange. Not sure where to begin? "Notice what colors you love and respond to in your decor," says Benz.
