Beth Djalali celebrated her third blogiversary in March 2017. She has an ever increasing following, perhaps due to her down to earth, practical style. Beth encourages others to find their own personal style – that confident feeling that adds the perfect accent to whatever you wear. She has been a style blogger for Chicos, was photographed wearing their clothes and interviewed about her style.
Feel sexy without revealing too much: No matter how old you are, a grown woman will always want to be able to feel sexy in her clothes when the occasion calls for it. Highlight your best feature—whether that's your chest, legs, arms or shoulders—and leave the rest a mystery. Showing too much skin as a mature woman will have the opposite effect you might intend, and make you appear out-of-touch and older than you are!
When you shop our women’s plus size clothing online, you’ll find no shortage of stylish jackets, ribbed knit tops, dresses and skirts, corduroy mini skirts, matching sets, fur coats, classic tanks and tees, body-hugging bodysuits, overalls and more. All that in the trendiest colors and prints - like neon, burgundy, olive, nude, white, classic black, snake print, leopard print and more. How does a woman choose?
If there's one thing that celebrity stylists agree upon it's that age has nothing to do with style. Great style is possible no matter how old you are—the key is knowing how to flaunt your body and sensibility in a way that works for you. Here, we've rounded up the most helpful tips from top stylists who have worked with chic sophisticates like Maye Musk, Oprah, and Christie Brinkley. Consider this your new guide as you navigate the complex world of fashion.
Who says that your fashion game needs to leave the field when you are nearing or in your 50s? I mean, have you seen Salma Hayek, Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry, and Sarah Jessica Parker? I could go on for days on end! Women age gracefully, and like wine, they only get better with time. Sure, a pair of distressed jeans isn’t quite exciting, but who says looking stylish, fashionable, or “cool” means donning ripped clothes? Let’s toss our apprehensions out for a minute and take a fresh look at fashion, as well as at some fifty-something women who are a fashion inspiration to old and young women alike. Shall we? We have here outfit ideas, tips, and bloggers you can follow for some much-needed fashion for women over 50. Let’s go.

We all know that we dress one way for the beach, another way for church, funerals, weddings, etc. One would hope that as a woman matures, so does her sense of style. Gracefully say good-bye to the micro minis you wore at 16, skimpy half tops and very low rise pants that expose your midriff, seductive plunging necklines and sausage tight clothing that desperately cling to the bygone days of your youth.
Fifty plus women often assume that fifty means frumpy, without realizing that it can be quite a fabulous age. You just need little additions like tops with asymmetrical cuts, smart patterns, cardigans, and jackets that add to your style, and scarves that bump it all up. Classy and sophisticated scarves go a long way for not just women in their fifties and plus-sizes, but just about anyone.
Before we share our selections for the top fashion blogs for women over 50, we think it appropriate to explain our mission. PrimeWomen.com was conceived as the response to a world of publications targeting women in their 20s and 30s -women just beginning their careers and finding their way in life, experimenting with fashion and trends. The ones to whom the fashion designers market shamelessly. At PRiME, we wanted to acknowledge and celebrate the fact those other publications seemed to conveniently overlook: The Prime Women generation spends $400 million more annually on consumer goods and services than any other generation. She is smart, successful and savvy. She has the financial stability to travel, invest, and be selective in her purchasing power.
I started my channel in 2011 as a way to inspire other women to create a life they love! I’m a licensed hairstylist and makeup artist and have worked in the beauty industry my entire life. I currently work full time creating videos for this channel and my vlog channel. I got married in 2015 to my middle school sweetheart and had my first baby Julian in March 2018. I opened my online clothing store in 2018 called Good To Be where we sell trendy women’s clothing, accessories and our own merch line. I’m 26 years old and live in Michigan with my husband, our son and our cavalier King Charles named Colbie. We also recently bought a vacation home in Florida that we’re renovating.
No list of top fashion blogs for women over 50 would be complete without mentioning Jennifer Connolly, a California-based Certified Image Consultant who initially started blogging to complement her work. While fashion blogs for mature women were fairly rare when she started five years ago, now the field is burgeoning, she says. “We’re the new fashion magazine for women our age,” Connolly says. “I started my blog to assist women online with free advice that I was charging my real life clients. There’s nothing out there in print for our age. It’s logical for it to end up on the internet.”
I agree with Catherine below. As a 51 year old, I like to wear what I want and that includes shopping at American Eagle Outfitter for jeans. I avoid low -waist jeans, but find they have a great variety of mid-rise to high-rise casual jeans at reasonable prices. I also own two pairs of Doc Martens shoes that I adore - one plain black and one floral - they are fun. Don't think it really matters - I say wear what you like and feel comfortable in. So what?
When you were four, you dressed like a four-year-old. When you were twenty, you dressed like a twenty-year-old. And now that you are over 50, explore the selection of beautiful casual and elegant clothes available for this age group. Cultivate a style that makes you look attractive, comfortable, and chic. Be a role model for the younger generation. Let them see how a mature and confident woman should present herself. You'll look and feel so much better.

What we won't deny is that finding inspiration when you're "of a certain age" can be difficult because fashion magazine spreads tend to ignore this demographic. However, celebrity dressing is a constant source of inspiring style for women of all ages, simply because our favorite stars are aging right along side us—like Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Helen Mirren and Viola Davis. (Can you believe she's 51?)

According to Dorrie Jacobson, Senior Style Bible was created to inspire a more modern approach to fashion. Dorrie is a retired Playboy Bunny, model, make-up artist and is considered an expert on aging with style. She is launching a lifestyle brand that celebrates older women. Dorrie is quoted as saying, “It’s important to have a signature style that is modern, fashionable and most importantly, still turns heads. My heart still skips a beat when I spy something I adore. If fashion has the power to do that, I’m happy to grow old, as long as I can do it looking great.”

We'll spare you the groundbreaking florals this season and instead, look to '60s and '70s wallpaper for your print fix. Retro prints ruled the runways—bringing both major color and pattern to all the top collections. Serving up mod home decor realness, vintage wallpaper (and couch) prints were channeled in the form of suiting at Prada and Marc Jacobs. Christopher Kane opted for a more psychedelic wallpaper print in the form of spring dresses, while Etro and Alberta Ferretti delivered a more bohemian-print option.

You could call it the Tarantino effect as numerous designers harked back to the late '60s/early '70s with a free spirited take on their collections. Susan Blakey was ahead of the curve, you might say, in launching her blog, Une Femme d’um Certain Age, after noting the absence of conversation about style for women over 50. Susan’s style exudes a Paris sensibility. She looks effortlessly chic, with that air of confidence that comes with knowing who you are and not trying to impress everyone. Her fashion blog has expanded to include travel wardrobes and destinations. Escape with Susan and embrace her joie de vivre.
