I'm almost 51, have great skin thanks to genetics, have been active all my life, have long dark hair (in great condition with minimal greys)...most people think I'm in my mid 30s. I still wear bikinis and short skirts and get compliments from both genders. I do think 50 and over should avoid florals, too much lace, and hair accessories with the exception of a barrette or hair band for a low ponytail.

Looking for a way to top off the perfect pair of jeans? Go bold with an artfully low-cut V-neck tee-shirt or an off-the-shoulder sweater. Tailored blouses can go from nice to naughty just by undoing a couple of buttons. VENUS has camo tops, nautical blouses and lumber jacket shirts that work nicely when you’re going for that tomboy look, plus strappy faux leather and eye-catching sequined creations when you want to put your girliest self forward.
A sloppily cuffed jean. An ill-fitting blazer. A dress that shows just a little too much to be referred to as "tastefully sheer." These are the things that fashion editors and stylists can spot from a million miles away. To those in the biz, the proper proportions of a crop top may be obvious, but for those seeing the trends in a magazine or online, it can be a little trickier to know exactly how to wear everything.
I agree with Catherine below. As a 51 year old, I like to wear what I want and that includes shopping at American Eagle Outfitter for jeans. I avoid low -waist jeans, but find they have a great variety of mid-rise to high-rise casual jeans at reasonable prices. I also own two pairs of Doc Martens shoes that I adore - one plain black and one floral - they are fun. Don't think it really matters - I say wear what you like and feel comfortable in. So what?

In years past, there were certain "rules" women were expected to follow, directing how they should or should not dress after a certain age. Fashion over 50 used to mean putting your wardrobe in what amounted to a sartorial retirement home! Not anymore. We know now that fashion for women over 50 (or over 40, or over 30) is whatever a woman wants it to be. The real challenge lies where it always does: finding wearable, modern clothes to fit your lifestyle, budget, and figure.

Crochet is getting a cool update come spring. Think ultra-feminine dresses, polished suiting, and eveningwear that feels modern with a special touch of Grandma’s handmade crochet. As the fashion industry looks for ways to become more sustainable, there’s something special about a “trend” that embraces a slow, handmade technique that can be passed down generation after generation—à la that treasured family heirloom that lasts forever.
What’s fluoro pink, orange, blue, green, and yellow, and refuses to blend in with the crowd? All the highlighter-inspired neons gracing your favorite catwalks, from Tom Ford to Christopher John Rogers, and Courreges. Subtle may not be her specialty, but these vibrant shades pair wonderfully with black, white, or tan, and know how to make an entrance.

Cathy was always fashionable and had a thing for style, however, after following 20-year old bloggers for a while, she took a step back and realized that something was not quite right. The newest trends weren’t perfectly matching her age, which prompted her to start ‘The Middle Page’ blog. She wanted to offer something for women of her age and tweak millennial trends accordingly.

Her blog about fashion over 50 was created specifically to help other women avoid the mistakes she made. “I thought other people might learn something from this,” she says. “You lose your way fashion-wise taking care of kids and aging parents. I thought maybe I could save people some steps if I shared what I learned.” Street describes her 50+ style as modern and feminine with “a little rocker edge. It’s a little bit more sophisticated than I wore most of my life,” she says.

I like your hub because it has the most important information on how to wear beautiful clothes when you are in your fifties. It is nice to wear attractive beautifully clothes. It feels good wearing the satin or any soft comfortable fabric. You are great for sharing what you know. Thank you for spending your time and writing about what to wear at the age of 50 years old.

And just like that disco’s not dead. The wide collar favored by the Studio 54 set made a surprise comeback on the spring 2020 runways. Modernized on coats, jackets, and button-downs at Lanvin, Ferragamo, JW Anderson, and beyond, the look is often shown with contrasting colors to make it really stand out. Because what’s the point of a super collar if you can’t really see it?
